Ara Cusack Lead Teacher Ara has been practicing and teaching yoga for almost 20 years and is a Continuing Education Provider and Teacher Trainer with Yoga Alliance (E-RYT 500 & YACEP). She has 5000 + hours of training and teaching experience in hatha, yin, restorative, vinyasa flow, meditation, anatomy, kundalini, prenatal, qigong, and Reiki. Ara has taught 34 Yin & 200 hour Teacher Training programmes and has been supporting Yoga Alliance certified schools & programs in North America, Central America & Europe for over 10 years. Helen Camisa Teaching Yoga to All Bodies Learn how to create classes that are inclusive to all bodies, with a specific focus on teaching to bigger bodied students. More and more plus-sized students are finding their way into yoga studios, and as teachers, it is our job to make them feel welcome. This workshop will discuss setting the tone of your class, the do's and dont's for creating a warm and welcoming space, and we will also review some simple modifications that can be included in any class without throwing off your planned theme. You will leave this workshop feeling confident and comfortable working with any body that walks in to your class! Read Helen's bio Nicole Marcia An Introduction to Trauma Informed Yoga Learn how to support clients and students by teaching them body-based self-regulation techniques such as using their breath and physical sensations to connect to the present moment. By supporting and enhancing the efficacy of other therapeutic interventions, trauma-informed yoga supports their long-term stability and recovery. In this highly interactive introduction, participants will learn the theoretical and practical applications of therapeutically-based, trauma- informed yoga across a variety of settings. Read Tomas' bio Farah Nazarali Unlocking the Yoga Sutras Farah Nazarali has been studying and teaching for over 15 years. She is the Founder of Drishti Point Radio and Podcasts, has interviewed and studied with Master teachers, and has studied in depth many of the sacred texts of yoga including Yoga Sutras, Bhagavad Gita, Hatha Yoga Pradipika, Bhakti Sutras, and Ashtaavakra Gita. She is well known for making ancient wisdom relevant to the challenges of contemporary life. She currently lives on Vancouver Island, teaches in Vancouver, and produces podcasts for Hollyhock Learning Center and Banyen Books and Sound. In this session you will discover the beauty of sanskrit and dive into one of the most inspiring texts of yoga. Explore the sutras in a way that makes them accessible and relevant to the realities of modern day life. |

In addition to enhancing your personal connection to yoga, graduates will be able to teach Hatha, Yin, and Hatha/Yin/Restorative fusion classes. This programme is designed for students interested in becoming Yoga Teachers, deepening their practice and embarking on a life-changing journey, and for Wellness Professionals who would like to incorporate aspects of Yoga into their wellness services.
We welcome anyone who has a desire to explore all aspects of the yoga practice (poses, meditation, anatomy, breath and philosophy). At least 5 prior yoga classes is recommended. If you are uncertain whether this immersion and training is right for you, come to an Info Session (see below) or contact us. We would be happy to discuss it further with you.

YOUR Checklist – What you will need to embark on this programme
- You! This time is for you to immerse yourself in your practice and allow the transformation to begin. Let your friends and family know in advance of your commitment. Set their expectations early so that you can fully enjoy this special time you have gifted yourself
- Plan to arrive 15 mins prior to event times to have time to settle in
- Dress in comfortable yoga clothes and bring layers so that you are comfortable during the yoga practice and when you are sitting and learning
- Bring your yoga mat AND an eye mask or washcloth to cover the eyes. The studio has props (bolsters, blocks, blankets).
- Bring your favorite notebook and pen/cil to take notes or either a laptop or tablet (charged). You will be writing each day
- Hot tea and filtered water are provided at the studio. Bring a water bottle to stay hydrated and make sure that all your beverages have a top to keep the liquid contained
- A printed manual will be provided
- Bring a timer or stopwatch (i.e. phone, watch or separate timer)
- The studio is in the Main St. neighborhood within walking distance to many coffee shops & restaurants. During breaks, you are welcome to stay and eat your own food. We do not have a microwave. If you are bringing food, please bring items that do not need to be refrigerated, warmed up or smell too strongly.
Practical Things to Know about just yoga
- just yoga is located on Broadway, one block west of Main St in East Vancouver. We are at ground level and are fully wheelchair accessible.
- We have free parking available from 5pm on weekdays and all day at weekends
- Broadway is the main bus route with connections to all areas of the city via the high-speed 99 bus service - see contact info for more details on this
- We have filtered water available on-site and hot water & tea is always available
- We have lots of props but please bring your own mat.
