Building a strong foundation from the start is key to longevity in yoga.  Our exclusive  Fundamentals workshop is for the absolute beginner or for those who've tried one or 2 classes and felt left behind. Taught by Sian Pringle, one of Vancouver's highest-rated teachers, this 2.5 hour session will introduce you to all the basics of a Hatha Yoga practice. We'll practice some of the more common yoga postures to strengthen the body and maintain flexibility, learn how to link them together to create flows and how you might use props to enhance your practice. The class will finish with a guided relaxation (called savasana) lying down on the floor. You will also learn a little about the history of Yoga and some simple breathing practices for everyday life.

The intention for these sessions is to offer an easy accessible introduction to Hatha yoga and to offer some insights into how this traditional practice can offer us ways to live well in our modern world. It's friendly and casual, you are welcome to ask questions at any time. Stay for tea, bring a friend!

Limited class size and emphasis is placed on building a safe individual practice that works for you in a relaxed and friendly environment.

Drop-in classes
As a complete beginner you can also take any class on our schedule except for the Power & Power flo' classes, which are faster paced and usually more advanced. Be sure to tell the teacher you are a beginner before class.  If you can't get to our Fundamentals workshop first then we    suggest starting with an all levels class (Thursdays & Saturdays are also with Sian) and then moving onto Power or Flo' classes when you are ready.   See also our class style guide for help on which classes to choose.

Suitable for everyone without injury. Not advisable for pregnant ladies without prior consultation.  Limited class size ensures individual attention.

UPCOMING DATES 2020:
How much does it cost and do I need to pre-register?
The single session rate is $35 for this workshop. Pre-registration is essential.  Buy your pass online before coming. See our prices page for all options and how to buy.
If this is your first visit then please arrive 10-15 mins before class for an orientation at the front desk.  These sessions will only go ahead with a minimum sign-up. In the unlikely event of a cancellation you will be notified 3 days before the event and a full refund given.
*The one month pass starts anytime  up to 2 weeks before the workshop and allows you to try out any class on the drop-in schedule for 30 days.

What do I need to get started?

You don't need anything except some comfy, stretchable clothing - we advise you not to wear jeans, no belts etc. No socks during practice is a good idea as socks make it slippy underfoot and you can't get a proper sense of your body movements.
Don't eat anything heavy one and half hours before class.
Bring a mat (or buy one from our shop)
For your first class please arrive 10-15 before class starts to register at the desk - our front door is locked strictly on time at the start of class.
