what's yoga all about and why should i do it?
What is it anyway?
Yoga is an ancient physical, mental and spiritual discipline and guide for life. Thousands of years old, the techniques and applications of yoga and meditation bring balance, health, vitality and peace to those who practice. Uneasiness in the mind can cause dis-ease in the body. Yoga can quickly bring improvement to stress, anxiety, self esteem, stiffness, weight issues and fatigue amongst other issues, and with continued dedicated practice can help ease longer-term ailments and conditions.
I'm too stiff to do yoga - I can't touch my toes
Anyone* can practice yoga, you do not have to be flexible to take a class, flexibility comes over time, the most important thing is to show up, and breathe!
*We are a wheelchair accessible studio and also have props & chairs available for those who need them.
What class style should I choose?
There are many forms of yoga available, so it's good idea to try out a few different class styles and teachers to find out what suits you best. Always start with a beginners class or series, to get a good, strong foundation for your practice. If you have a medical condition or are pregnant, get your doctor's advice before starting and make sure you speak to the teacher before class.
